»Is our work on structured markup paying off yet?« To answer questions like this, you record a measure with a date in your AI-Visibility project, for example »Schema live on product pages«. Rankion marks it in the trend chart and shows how visibility changed afterwards.

Important up front: what is measured is what changed after the measure, not what caused it. No number can prove that the measure was the cause.

Record a measure

Open your AI-Visibility project in the Overview tab. Directly below the trend chart you will find the Measures and change card.

  1. Date: the day the change went live. At most one year before or after today is allowed.
  2. Action: a short title.
  3. Note (optional): what exactly was changed.
  4. Click Add.

To correct a measure, click the pencil in the list. Above the form you will then see You are correcting: with the title of the measure, and its row is highlighted. Save with Save correction. Next to it you can remove a measure, after a confirmation prompt.

The marker in the trend chart

Each measure appears as a numbered purple marker in the trend chart. Below the chart, the same list is shown as text, with number, date and title. The measures also appear in the Period comparison, in the Measures in these periods section, with their position: in period A, in period B or between A and B.

How the change is calculated

Rankion compares the 14 days before the date with the 14 days from the date on. Only questions that were measured on the same platform in both periods are counted. This way a changed selection of prompts cannot fake a change: a prompt that was only measured afterwards does not count.

The result appears in the list next to the measure: visibility before and after, the change in percentage points and the number of shared data points.

When there is no number yet

Instead of a made-up zero, you get one of two answers:

  • Too early: the 14 days after the measure are not over yet. The date from which they are complete is shown alongside.
  • Not evaluable: too few identical questions were measured before and after the measure, fewer than 25 shared data points.

If you correct a measure, Rankion recalculates the change.

Measures and the Action Center

A measure is not a task. That is why it does not appear on the board or in the task lists of the Action Center. Recording, correcting and removing is only possible on the project page or over the API.

Who may record measures

Anyone who may see the project can read the measures. Only those who may edit AI visibility in this project can record, correct and remove them. Everyone else sees a notice instead of the form, saying who may record measures.

Over the API

Method Endpoint Purpose
GET / POST /v1/tracking-projects/{id}/measures list / record measures
PUT /v1/tracking-projects/{id}/measures/{measure} correct
GET /v1/tracking-projects/{id}/measures/{measure}/effect change after the measure
DELETE /v1/tracking-projects/{id}/measures/{measure} remove

GET /v1/action-center/todos leaves measures out. With ?kind=massnahme you get them anyway. None of the calls cost credits.
